01 / RECURRING COSTS
What does your list add up to?
Start with the illustrative examples, or clear them and add your own. Untick a row to leave it out of your scenario.
| Subscription | Currency | Amount | Billed | Keep? | Remove |
|---|
Annualized estimates, not a bill forecast. Removing a row changes the scenario; it does not cancel a service or create a refund.
02 / CHECK THE COMMITMENT
Annual is only cheaper
if you use it long enough.
A lower monthly equivalent can hide a bigger upfront payment. Compare the full annual price against the number of months you expect to use the service.
Assumes equal features, a fixed price, monthly cancellation without a penalty, and no refund on the annual plan. Check the actual terms before buying.
03 / FROM COMPARISON TO FOLLOW-THROUGH
Know which charge

MoneyShield helps organize renewal and cancel-by reminders, compare What If scenarios, and follow a cancellation checklist.
Free download for iPhone and iPad, iOS/iPadOS 18+. The listing offers 7 days of Full Protection with no payment or automatic charge, then a free plan. Optional Plus unlocks unlimited subscriptions, saved scenarios, full Cancel First ranking, and export.
The app does not cancel subscriptions for you or guarantee refunds. This web calculator is a separate companion and does not send reminders. Create a renewal review calendar event.
THE MATH, IN PLAIN SIGHT
Simple assumptions.
Inspectable results.
These are planning calculations using the amounts you enter. They do not inspect accounts, verify bills, or predict cancellation outcomes.
How are recurring costs annualized?
Amount per cycle × cycles per year. We use 52 for weekly, 26 for every two weeks, 12 for monthly, 4 for quarterly, and 1 for yearly. The monthly equivalent is that annual estimate divided by 12.
A 12 CAD monthly charge is 144 CAD per year. A 36 CAD yearly charge adds 36 CAD, giving 180 CAD. Excluding the yearly charge leaves a 144 CAD scenario: a 36 CAD annualized difference. This is an illustration, not realized savings.
Why isn't the annual estimate the exact next 12 months?
Weekly and fortnightly counts are conventions. Depending on payment dates, a 12-month window may contain an extra payment. Taxes, one-time fees, price changes, usage charges, credits, and prorated refunds are not added automatically. Include known taxes in your input and check billing dates separately.
How does monthly-versus-annual break-even work?
Annual price ÷ monthly price gives the break-even number of months. At 15 per month versus 120 per year, eight monthly payments equal the annual price; the ninth costs more. For six months, monthly payments total 90, compared with 120 paid upfront for the year.
When the monthly price is zero, there is no positive-price annual break-even. When the annual price is at least 12 monthly payments, the annual plan is not cheaper within the first year under these assumptions.
Are currencies combined? Is anything saved?
No. CAD, USD, EUR, GBP, and AUD totals stay separate. This page does not convert currencies, connect to banks, send form entries to a server, or use browser storage. Export or print before leaving. Hosting providers may process ordinary website request information.
